IOWA RACING AND GAMING COMMISSION

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR

HORSE RACING PARTICIPANTS

All Owners (including partnership, corporations, stable names, lessors and lessees) and trainers of a horse must be licensed at least one hour before post time of the race in which the horse is entered.  Only those individuals in a partnership, corporation or stable name owning 5% or more interest are required to be licensed.

The Commission will not be offering temporary licenses this year so if you are not licensed one hour before post time of the race in which the horse is entered, the horse will be scratched.

Fingerprinting - The cost for fingerprinting in Iowa is $46.25.  Iowa will wave fingerprinting if you can provide proof of fingerprinting in another racing jurisdiction in the last four years (2005 or newer).  It is your responsibility to provide the proof.  Proof would be one:  a copy of the license with the fingerprint date on it or a letter from another racing jurisdiction stating the date you were printed.  If you cannot provide proof of fingerprinting at the time of licensing, you will be required to be fingerprinted in Iowa.

Completion of Occupational License Application – All questions on the application must be answered and the application signed and dated or the application will be returned as incomplete.
