Budget
Members of the Assessment Team, the Leadership Team, and the Iowa Department of Education will review Grant requests.
Institution will be notified of grant award by February 20, 2006
Fifty percent of the grant funds will be allocated with the grant award.
Progress must be submitted by May 17, 2006
Forty percent of the grant funds will be allocated following a successful progress report
A second round of funding may be available in March 2006.
Final report for the year must be submitted by August 1, 2006
Ten percent of the grant funds will be distributed upon receipt of the final report.
Criteria for Grant Awards:
Grant funds are intended to support the
development or refinement of performance assessment systems, especially electronic
data collection and management, to
improve the preparation of teachers in Iowa. Grant funds are available for use
by recipients for purposes including but not limited to the purchase of
database software or hardware to facilitate data management and reporting,
technical services
including programming support, faculty
development and training, refinement of assessment system rubrics, design or
modification of performance tasks, refinement of internal and external
reporting
capabilities and procedures for assuring
reliability and validity of assessments.
Funds may be used for expenses such as: consultants, hardware, software, faculty release time, personnel for clerical work, travel, lodging, and meals. Institutions may apply for funds to refine their current assessment systems or to create/expand current electronic data collection, management, and assessment systems. Collaborative efforts that involve multiple institutions are encouraged. Applications should provide a clear assessment of the current situation, a specific year-long plan of action, and a budget that is aligned with the plan. A scoring guide will be used for assessing the applications (will be available November 30, 2005).
