  Title IV, Part A
Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities

Program Description
Funds are provided for grants to LEAs to establish, operate, and improve local programs of school drug and violence prevention and early intervention. This program is the Federal Government’s primary vehicle for reducing drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, and violence, through education and prevention activities in schools. It is designed to strength programs that prevent violence and the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs in and around schools. These programs must involve parents and be coordinated with related Federal, state, and community efforts and resources.
