Welcome to NAEP
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the "Nation's Report Card," is the only nationally representative and continuing assessment of what children in the United States know and can do in various subject areas. For over thirty years, NAEP has provided state and national data on the academic performance of U.S. students at grades 4, 8, and 12. NAEP has two major goals:
  1. Measure student achievement.
  2. Report change in performance over time.

NAEP provides results for the nation as a whole and for each state. Performance is reported by subgroups of students including gender, race/ethnicity, and by participation in special programs including Special Education. NAEP is not an individual test so NAEP does not provide results for individual students, schools, or districts in Iowa.

  • Nov 1, 2-3 P.M.

    Skill Level Comparisons
Skill level comparisons were made matching the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), Iowa Collaborative Assessment Modules, ITBS Constructed Response, and the Core Content Standards and Benchmarks Corresponding to the Iowa Tests. The content was assessed using Framework, Content Specification, and/or Test Coordinator materials. No effort to complete an item by item analysis was attempted. The matrixes are available as follows:
