NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

The 2001 reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was signed into law January 8, 2002 by President Bush.

The legislation is called No Child Left Behind and it contains substantial changes that impact local education agencies, area education agencies, as well as state departments of education.

Purpose of Title I

“…to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state (local) academic achievement standards and state (local) academic assessments.”
