Reporting the Local Independent Evaluation (Sec.1235 (15) Please include the timeline for this local evaluation)

The final report of the evaluator must include a written narrative or summary of the findings of the evaluation. Each program should have a statement of agreement with the local evaluator regarding the timelines, the focus of the evaluation, and the required documentation, such as the written summary and the involvement of the evaluator at the local site.

 

The final report must be submitted to the Iowa Department of Education by June 30 of the program year.  The final report must provide critical data and information for program monitoring and continuous program improvement.

Local Evaluators

 

The local evaluator should assist the program staff in their decisions regarding:

            1) the focus of the local evaluation;

            2) what the indicators, artifacts, documents will be used to indicate that the program

                achieves desirable ends;

            3) the relationship of this particular area of focus to the comprehensive program;

            4) how the evaluation results will be used for continuous program improvement.

 

Each program should have a statement of agreement with the local evaluator regarding the timelines, the focus of the evaluation, and the required documentation, such as the written summary, and the involvement of the evaluator at the local site.

 

A local evaluator may be selected from:

 

Area Education Agency Early Childhood Specialists

Existing or previously funded Even Start personnel from other communities

ISU Family Life County Extension Specialists

Adult and Community Education Personnel

University  or College Child Development, Literacy, Community

Development Specialists or Research Personnel

Community College Child Development Instructors

 

This list is only a starter, qualified and experienced persons in many fields may provide the local evaluation. The program staff must find an evaluator outside their specific school district to provide this service.

 

Final Evaluation Product

 

The final evaluation must include: an exit conference and a written summary of the evaluation.

 

The final report of the evaluator must include a written narrative or summary of the findings of the evaluation.

 

The final report must be submitted to the Iowa Department of Education by June 30 of the program year.  The final report must provide critical data and information for progress monitoring and continuous program improvement.

 

The final evaluation may include: video, media or press release that may be used with broad stakeholder audiences.
