Class Size/Early Intervention
The Early Intervention/Class Size appropriation was re-authorized for the
2004-2005 fiscal year. This allocation was made for one year only. During the 78th legislative session the Iowa General Assembly enacted H.F. 743, Iowa Early Intervention Block Grant Program. The goals of this legislation were: (a) to provide school districts with resources to reduce K-3 class size in basic skills instruction to the state goal of 17 students for every one teacher, (b) to provide school districts with resources for K-3 early intervention efforts in basic skills instruction, especially reading, and (c) to increase communication and accountability regarding student performance.
