	Teacher Librarian Media Program Waiver

	Changes in the Requirement for Teacher-Librarian - House File 2792 requires school districts to have a qualified teacher librarian and an updated articulated sequential kindergarten through grade twelve media program beginning July 1, 2006.  Personnel requirements can be met through any of the following: Your district currently employs a fully licensed individual (individual holds an Iowa teaching license). Your district entered into a contract with an individual for employment as a media specialist or librarian prior to June 1, 2006 and the individual is making annual progress toward meeting the requirements for a teacher librarian endorsement. Your district employs a media specialist or librarian who has a master’s degree in library and information studies but does not currently hold an Iowa teaching license. Your district entered into a contract via a 28E agreement with an individual for employment as a media specialist or librarian prior to June 1, 2006 and the individual is making annual progress toward meeting the requirements for a teacher librarian endorsement or is already fully licensed.
